Bank Holiday ONCE again the powers-that-be, in our "altogether better" town, have shown their utter disregard to the basic needs of the people they are supposed to serve and to the many visitors by keeping public toilets closed on, perhaps, the busiest Bank Holiday of the year.
This inconsideration was matched only by that of the local bus companies who, as per usual, couldn't manage to run a decent service.
But back to the toilets. In a recent survey Bolton, I believe, came bottom of the list as far as these essential facilities go.
This was no surprise to anyone, with even half a brain, living in our town. But, apparently, it was a surprise to the powers-that-be, who have now promised to give the matter some thought!
While we still have a few public conveniences left in Bolton, spare a thought for Farnworth. Here Bolton Metro have completely given up.
As far as I know, there are no public conveniences in Farnworth town centre. Just the metallic monstrosity thoughtlessly donated by the GMPTA, which stands like a modern monument to the council's folly outside a toilet block which could so easily have been refurbished along with the market.
Without the local pubs and, in particular, Asda, a big percentage of Farnworth shoppers would, I am sure, find a more "convenient" place to shop as will most of the visitors to Bolton who were so shoddily treated by a seemingly thoughtless council.
