Clear running streams of water,

Canals inviting and cool,

Beckoning children again and again,

To take a dip in the pool.

Where is their sense of danger,

It's flown away on the breeze,

Too hot to think, as they dip in their toes,

Too late when it reaches their knees.

So many times we have warned them,

It goes in one ear, and then out,

No time to read any sign that's around,

It's hot, and there's water about.

Like a magnet it lures all our children,

And sadly each year some will die,

So it's up to us all to protect them,

The authorities and you and I.
