WHEN Bradshaw Bowling Club opened a new pavilion fit for a prince, they found the perfect man to do the honours. Cyril Prince, who was 93 on September 9, is not only the club's oldest member, he's also thought to be the oldest bowler regularly turning out on the greens in Bolton. And opponents will vouch for the fact that Cyril still has a keen eye for the skilled game.
Bradshaw Bowling Club was formed in1910 and shortly after the club's inauguration, a wooden pavilion was erected.
Over the years it has been patched and mended, but this year, with the assistance of a £24,000 grant from the Sports Foundation, a new £40,000 pavilion has been provided. The foundation helps a wide range of sports and community schemes through cash generated by the major Pools companies.
It was officially opened on Saturday by Cyril, who also made a "generous contribution" to the project.
Club chairman Ken Hardman said everyone at Bradshaw is proud of Cyril and there was a big turnout of bowlers, officials and friends to toast him at the opening ceremony.
