A SCHOOL for youngsters with learning difficulties is set to go hi-tech with a suite of new computers - thanks to a £4,000 grant.
Woodside Senior School was handed the cash by one of the UK's largest grant-making trusts, the Lloyds TSB Foundations.
The computers will enable the school to enter the 21st century, helping lower ability children to read and work out mathematical problems. And the pupils will be shown how to use the Internet, boosting cultural links with other schools across Europe and the world.
Teacher Julia Mason said: "The donation is absolutely tremendous. The new computer equipment will go a long way to improving basic literacy and numeracy skills, as well as providing vital training for students who wish to take employment or go to college." Woodside has 132 pupils aged between 12 and 19 with varying levels of educational needs.
Mark Bradford, branch manager of Lloyds TSB in Halliwell, said: "The school provides a much needed facility for many children with learning difficulties in Bolton and the surrounding area. I am pleased the trust has been able to make a donation."
