A SENIOR Reebok Stadium official's job is secure following revelations that he had an affair with a steward.
Former Bolton Wanderers steward Julie Compton from Blackrod spoke to a national tabloid newspaper about her relationship with Reebok chief safety officer Rod Cross.
She claimed that during an affair they met secretly within the Wanderers stadium.
The relationship was dramaticaly exposed when a message was flashed onto the stadium scoreboard at half-time during the Wanderers game against Manchester City. The message said: "Congratulations Rod and Julie, your secret is out!"
Who arranged for the message to be displayed has never been revealed, but Julie Compton claims in a Sunday tabloid that someone at the club did it for spite.
Today a Bolton Wanderers spokesman said that Mr Cross would be keeping his job.
He said: "The report in the newspaper is purely a personal matter for Mr Cross."
Mr Cross, aged 40, has ended the relationship with Miss Compton, 31, and is now back with his wife in Bolton.
Miss Compton is no longer working in her job as a £20 per match steward.
