DO you hanker for the sights and sounds of the 1940s?
Or dream of Glenn Miller, the songs that made the decade special and the dress that was all the rave?
If so Gordon and Joyce Jones of Ringley are inviting you to a 1940s style dance.
Guests will be expected to wear the costume of the decade, be it service uniform or civvies typical of the era.
The dance will feature a 16 piece1940s style swing band whose repertoire is guaranteed to transport revellers back in time to the period just before, during and after the Second World War.
Reality
To add a touch of reality without any of the horrors, there even be a black-out and a simulated air raid.
Tickets are £8.50, including supper and the dance is being held at Horwich RMI Club on October 29 starting at 8pm. A late bar has been organised.
As members of The Burtonwood Association and proud owners of American 8th Air Force uniforms, Gordon and Joyce are looking forward to a sell out.
"This is the first dance of this kind in the area. These affairs are very, very popular in London, but this is the first time we've organised one in this area," explained Gordon.
Tickets can be obtained from the club or from Gordon on Bolton 861500 or 0161 775 5966.
