Went from Torquay to Jersey,
On a hovercraft we did go.
It was only a three hour sailing,
But oh how it did to and fro.
Half the people were sick all the time,
Some so ill they did cry.
The sea was so rough as we glided across,
Some saying: "We're going to die".
We finally got there all in one piece,
And off we went to sight-see.
The sun was shining and we had a good day,
My husband Jack and me.
On returning to catch the hovercraft home,
On the tannoy the man did say.
The sea is too rough, you must spend the night here,
There will be no sailing today.
So off to the lounge we all trooped,
They said we must sleep there.
They gave us all a blanket,
Some slept on couches and a chair.
Next morning at six up we did get,
To be herded back on the ship.
We got free sandwiches and cups of tea,
And we managed an hour's kip,
Then all of a sudden the swell it did rise,
The journey was worse than before.
Up and down and to and fro,
Sick bags were used by the score.
Back on dry land the feeling felt good,
So relieved I thought I would weep.
We jumped in a taxi and off we did go,
To my aunties to have a good sleep.
