FARNWORTH Twins Club has been boosted by its first ever cash injection - a £500 grant from the Single Regeneration Budget.
And the club could not have enrolled anyone better to make the presentation than Cllr Derek Burrows, a twin himself.
The club was created by mum Katie Talbot, whose daughters Victoria and Alexandra are 17 months.
Katie sprang into action in response not only to her own situation, but also to the astonishing number of twins being born in the town.
Anyone who is a twin, or parent to twins, is welcome to join the club, regardless of age.
The club meets at Piggott Street Family Circle Centre, free of charge, every Tuesday afternoon from 1pm to 3pm.
However, it is due to move to New Bury Community Centre in the next few weeks. Opening hours will remain the same.
The aim of the club is for children to get to play with toys while parents support one another and share experiences.
So far the club has managed on good will alone, but the grant of more than £500 means more equipment for the youngsters can be bought.
Katie said: "So far we have been running off no money. We are delighted to be given this grant. It will go on equipment for the kids and anything to make life easier for mums.
"Chairs for the babies to sit in while they are here would certainly be a great help for example."
