TOMORROW the Master Cotton Spinners of Bolton will have an opportunity of reconsidering the action they have taken in attempting to reduce the wages of their workpeople. A promise has been given that the request made by the Self-Actor Minders, for the matter in dispute to be referred to arbitration, shall be laid before the general meeting of the Masters' Association which takes place tomorrow. This, of course will be done, and on behalf of the townspeople of Bolton we earnestly ask for the matter to be dealt with tomorrow. The strike, which has now begun, possesses an anxious interest for all the community. If continued, it must be attended with sad and fearful consequences. It is, of course, too early just now to feel the effects of the movement; but £10,000 wages cannot cease to be distributed amongst shopkeepers and tradesmen week after week without giving shock to the trade of the town; nor can thousands of operatives subsist during this period without many of them being reduced to beggery.
