ROY Allwood added the Summer Medal Trophy to his Winter Medal at Turton.
He recorded a six under par total of 64 which contained nothing worse than a bogey at any hole despite his 15 handicap - seven less than when he took the Winter Trophy.
Adam Gittins almost caught him after a birdie three at the 16th followed by a full pitch in for two at the 336 yard 17th hole, but his valiant effort was spoiled by a bogey at the last and he had to settle for second place.
Results: 64 - Allwood 65 - Gittins, 66 - A Yates, M Hawkins, A Tavener, A Dawson 67 - T Whitehead, D Beighton 68 - R Warburton, G Holden, S Welshman 69 - J Ramwell, I Wilbur.
There were several good scores in the 36 hole First President's Cup medal. Ian Lammas led the field by two strokes after the first round despite having to reduce his handicap by two shots to conform to the maximum allowance of 18 strokes.
His lead would have been bigger but for double bogeys at the last two holes following two very tense drives. There were 22 players under par when play started on Sunday and it was obvious that the trophy would go to whoever could keep their nerve and form.
Early starter Nick Holliday improved on his four under par score by one shot and the cup appeared to be his as one by one the other contenders fell by the wayside and failed to beat par.
There always seems to be one exception and this time it was Ken Hilton (playing off a handicap of 16) who stormed to the turn in two over par gross and, suitably fortified at the tenth tee at the hospitality caravan of President David Jackson, played very steady golf over the closing nine holes to run out a comfortable winner. It was very surprising that only Ken and Nick managed to beat par for both rounds.
Graham Fullarton had the best gross score and had an excellent second round when he finished one outside the course record after dropping shots at two of the last three holes.
