WHILE Wanderers and Barnsley were sharing the spoils at the Reebok on Saturday, domestic rivals Mark Fish and Eric Tinkler teamed up to help South Africa win the first leg of their Afro-Asian Cup decider with Saudi Arabia in Cape Town.
Despite struggling for a place in the Bolton squad this season, Fish was chosen to captain his country for the first time and emerged triumphant when Pollen Ndlanya scored the only goal, converting a cross from Manchester United's Quinton Fortune.
Fish and Barnsley midfielder Tinkler, who was restored to the Bafana squad after a year out of favour, are likely to be on their travels again next week for the return leg of the Afro-Asia challenge in Riyadh on Sept 30.
