BAKER Derrick Warburton was one of three dignitaries to receive honorary degrees at the Bolton Institute awards ceremony .
The former company Chairman who retired from the family business in 1989, was honoured for his public service in Bolton.
Distinguished Bolton businessman Sir Alan Cockshaw was also made an honorary fellow at the Institute.
His many executive posts include Chairman of English Partnerships, Chairman of Manchester Millennium Ltd and Chairman of the Roxboro Group.
Eminent academic Dr Anne Wright CBE, the current Chief Executive for the University for Industry, was also awarded an honorary degree.
