TEENAGE cricketer Tim Rees is set to take on the world.

Tim, who lives in Sharples, has been chosen for the England squad that will play in next year's under 15s Cricket World Cup.

And the international call is the latest sporting honour award for the Canon Slade student.

As well as being an outstanding cricketer he is also an England international basketball player at his age group as well as being a member of the Bolton Wanderers Youth football academy.

That could force decisions to be made as the sports are now starting to conflict.

"At the moment football and basketball are colliding and I will have to decide soon how I will deal with them," he said.

But it is cricket that has brought him his latest recognition.

Formerly at Astley Bridge but now playing at Farnworth Social Circle, Tim will be joining the England squad for monthly intensive coaching sessions at Trent Bridge before the World Cup, which is to be played in England in June and July next year.

Tim is also a member of the Lancashire squad at under 15s level to complete a remarkable family tradition as his two brothers are in county squads at their age level, Daniel representing the under 18s and Jeremy the under 11s.
