A SENIOR Bolton teacher is off to Helsinki today to give Finnish headteachers a glimpse of the future.
Chris Roberts will conduct two workshops at a conference at Helsinki University.
The Smithills deputy head, who is currently acting head at the Deane School, will tell educationalists about his work teaching children all about environmental issues.
Following a research project, Mr Roberts tinged the curriculum at Smithills School green and environmental factors are now considered in nearly all subject areas. He will tell the Finns all about they way he has introduced issues of sustainability onto the timetable and linked up with outside agencies to further the "Futures" project at the school.
Academics at Helsinki University heard about his work through joint links with Manchester University and arranged for him to meet headteachers interested in becoming involved in the worldwide "Futures" project.
