Wanderers' official supporters club has given the thumbs down to the sale of Per Frandsen and sympathised with Colin Todd for quitting the club. Kath Brown, spokesperson for the Bolton Wanderers Supporters Association, greeted the news with deep dismay.

"The flags at the Reebok should be at half mast today for the selling of the team's king pin and engine room, Per Frandsen to rivals Blackburn Rovers . . . and at a giveaway price at that!

"BWFC have signalled the demise of any ambition they might have had to return to the Premiership and this, in turn, could see the demise of the club itself as a footballing force. "On behalf of everyone at BWSA I want to say that the news is devastating and we are extremely disappointed and angry, to say the least.

"In resigning, Colin Todd has spoken for us all!"

Lifelong Wanderers fan Alex Sankey said he was "bitterly disappointed" to hear of the manager's departure.

"I think he's brought a standard of play to Bolton that they could only previously have dreamed of. "I'm sure he won't be out of football for very long and that will only be to that club's benefit.

"I'd like to wish Colin and his family all the best for the future and thank him sincerely for what he has done here."
