REFERRING to a letter from Vincent Bell, Talk of the Town, Thursday, September 16, about the old age pension in Britain, which I think is a disgrace and an insult to all those who fought in two world wars.
Those who were lucky enough to come back home to their families etc are living in poverty today. I have spoken to many people around the Clayton-le-Woods and Chorley area who have told me they are just about making ends meet.
As Vincent stated, people have fallen behind since Thatcher's cut with average earnings. Restore it now and give the old people of Britain back their pride and dignity before it is too late. Don't make them have to beg for money to live. Think of those who died so we could live.
From a not proud to be British citizen.
R Rackham,
Green Wood,
Clayton-le-Woods.
