GERRY King, who is a well-known face at the Squirrel pub in Horwich, Blackrod Conservative Club and Bond Street Catholic Club, has been entertaining in various forms for more than 40 years.
But he only turned professional last year after an industrial accident at work which damaged his spine.
Gerry, aged 59, said: "Instead of going on the dole I decided to put my musical talents to good use so I have launched myself as a pro - at nearly 60 years of age this could be a record!"
Entertaining
During his 42 years of entertaining Gerry worked during the 1960s in venues including the Aspin Club, the 103 Club in Bury, Brookhouse Club, Daubhill Social Club and the Blue Lagoon.
He worked with well-known names such as Vince Lorrain and Lee Martin and Bolton comic Stu Francis.
Gerry was steward at Horwich Reform Club for 14 years and with the help of Stu he staged charity shows which raised about £15,000.
He added: "As well as the regular nights in the pubs and clubs I also do elderly peoples homes - these are very rewarding."
Gerry also has studio facilities where he helps up and coming young talent prepare backing tapes free of charge.
