MAY I, through your excellent letters page, take the unusual step of congratulating someone for their most blatant act of vandalism.
I am of course referring to the pranksters who put foaming liquid into the monstrosities that are the new fountains!
Not usually one to condone such acts, I feel compelled to do so on this occasion, as I believe they are doing so to underline the public outcry and concern over these expensive eyesores, that even fail to work properly!
Oh, how on windy days we love being drenched as the jets spray water onto the innocent town centre shopper (do they have this problem at Trafford Centre? - I think not!). How we love the way the water turns the expensive new flags into something resembling an ice-rink!
While on the subject of the precinct in general, it should be noted that already the area is knee-deep in dried chewing gum splodges!
The people who leave these, are far more serious a vandal than those crusaders with the washing up liquid!
