ONCE again Cllr Foster has found it necessary to defend the Council's recently completed single lane ring road. He claims, not for the first time, that the traffic lights along Moss Bank Way limit the flow of traffic rather than the number of lanes.
This is an absurd myth that only the misguided, anti-motoring Labour Council believe to be true. The flow of traffic is in fact limited by the debacle that occurs 50 yards after the lights when traffic comes to a near halt while drivers from the outside lane try to pull into non-existent spaces in the inside lane.
I have seen many near misses and lots of road rage at the junctions with Blackburn Road and with Halliwell Road.
I assume the Council researched the project before spending millions reducing our ring road to a cart track. If so I would be interested to see the evidence showing the number of vehicles per hour along Moss Bank Way before and after the scheme. Perhaps under the Government's new Freedom of Information act we the taxpayers of Bolton might have access to road study statistics.
