LEADER of the council, Mr Wilson, does not think a 10p a week rise on the council rates is much to bother about (Citizen, March 9).
But to a pensioner who is being awarded the meagre rise of 75p a week this April, it is a different story.
We were all grateful for the £100 given to us to help with the fuel bills. This, however, will be quickly absorbed by the VAT on fuel, tax, house insurance and ever-increasing bus fares.
Many pensioners, I am sure, will seriously think where to put their cross at the local and general elections, after all there are ten million of us.
