I REFER to four years ago, the last Chorley Borough election for East Ward Clayton le Woods.

David Bland was elected as a Lib Dem. How the pendulum swings, four years later, Mr Bland unheard of in three-and-a-half years, now wants re-election as a Labour councillor for Clayton-le-Woods East.

I would like to take a look at his election issues this time.

Road Safety - over the past four years, there have been five public meetings in Clayton-le-Woods on this issue. Only one councillor attended all five, former parish councillor Jim Freeman, who I may add, fought and got a crossing on the busy Clayton Green Road, near Asda.

Play area - three years ago, Clayton-le-Woods Parish Council put up the parish precept on the rates to pay for play areas, and upgrade sited areas.

Three years ago Steve Charlesworth and the parish council play area group asked for extra funding for a skating area for Clayton-le-Woods. The funding is now in place, courtesy of Chorley Borough Council.

Mr Bland, try to think of something original, do not try a four year repeat.
