TWO big-hearted Chorley high school children took time out from studies to help flood victims in Mozambique.
Albany pupils Mosyn Desai,12, and Dale White,13, were so moved by TV news pictures of the devastating floods in the crisis-torn African country that they felt they had to do something to help.
So after asking their form tutor, David Thoburn, for permission, they spent Personal and Social Education lessons visiting every class in the school to ask for donations.
They eventually managed to raise a fantastic £219.50 with small change collections in assemblies also helping along the way.
Proud form tutor, David, said: "Mosyn and Dale came to us after seeing a news story on television about the floods in Mozambique.
"They went around classes and raided all of the lessons and visited every form in the school to ask for donations.
"The school has always had a good tradition of fund-raising. Obviously, nobody wants to see disasters like the Mozambique floods happen but when they do we try to do our bit."
The Albany donation will now be paid to Oxfam who will add it to the millions already raised to help the relief effort by a variety of other charities.
David added: "This shows what the kids at the school are generally like. It's nice to see that they are doing their bit to raise money."
