nMAY I, through your column, warn anybody who uses Eurocheques.
I recently returned from Majorca. After a very harassing first day, going from bank to bank and exchange bureau to get some pesetas, I walked into Palma Nova from Magaluf and, after one and a half hours, gave up. They had all stopped cashing them and someone told me she had the same trouble in November.
When I arrived home I questioned Barclays Bank and they said they didn't know anything about it. I immediately cancelled mine. I have used it for 12 years, all over Europe and never had a problem (I have also used them in Magaluf). I was disgusted with Barclays, surely they knew what was going on?
My advice, if you have them, is to get rid.
