ON Thursday, you published a letter from Mrs G Simcox praising Care In The Community for her daughter. I would like to praise Mrs Simcox herself.
Although she had no previous connection with our school, she has become a Voluntary Reading Helper. Twice a week she walks to and from school in all weathers, to share books with reluctant readers, even though she is now in her 70s. She is a typical "granny" and the children love her and our other invaluable VRH, Mrs Spears. They give undivided, individual attention to needy children, which busy class teachers find difficult to do.
So BEN readers, if you can give some time regularly, please contact VRH tel: 01204 373688.
