HAPPY Wanderer Per Frandsen was on top of the world today after winning an international recall.
New Denmark boss Morten Olsen has named the 30-year-old midfield ace in his squad for next Wednesday's friendly in the Faroe Islands.
He has also dropped a big hint that the powerful midfielder could be a key figure in his World Cup qualifying campaign, which kicks off in Iceland on September 2.
Olsen, who has taken over from the Swede Bo Johansson, is a fan of Frandsen's attacking style, referring to him in glowing terms as "a good all round player".
The international recognition could not have been better timed for Frandsen who is gearing up to make a happy Reebok return in Saturday's League opener against Burnley.
He had been in the wilderness - at club and country level - until Sam Allardyce bought him back from Blackburn less than a year after he'd been sold to bail Wanderers out of a financial crisis.
Frandsen reacted happily: "It's always a boost to be recognised by your country especially with a new manager coming in.
"It's been a good month for me, coming back to Bolton and getting back into the national side. Now I've got to prove myself on the pitch."
Frandsen's inclusion in the squad, announced in Copenhagen last night, wasn't the only point of interest for Wanderers' fans.
He will be joined in the Faroes by his former Bolton team-mates and close friends Claus Jensen and Michael Johansen.
For Jensen, who left the Reebok for Charlton in a £4 million deal last month, it is confirmation that Olsen and his assistant Michael Laudrup believe he is a star of the future. Johansen's is a surprise call, although he has been in good form for his new club AB Copenhagen since he left Wanderers on a free transfer in May - scoring a hat-trick in last weekend's 4-0 win against Haderslede.
"It's going to be good getting the old Bolton midfield back together again," Frandsen added.
