THE last of the Chorley four-mile series took place around Astley Village.
Despite a torrential downpour, the runners' enthusiasm was not dampened.
Adam Sutton, of Preston Harriers, won the race in a good time of 19 minutes 23 seconds. However, the overall series went to Jason Parker, of Bingley Harriers. First man home for Chorley Harriers was Daniel Baldwin. In his first year of competitive athletics, there is a great deal more to come from this 18-year-old.
Steve Thomas was first Vet 40 for the Harriers. Lisa Unsworth was fourth lady overall.
Spokesman, Pete McDade, said: "There is a mini running boom taking place. Entries for the series, this year, were up by 25 per cent. This has a knock-on effect by the number of new runners joining the club.
"At Chorley Harriers we welcome runners of all standards. Our ladies' section is probably the fastest growing sector of the club"

Joanne Kelly took part in the Walton-le-Dale 10K and came away with a PB of 43 minutes 50 seconds and was fourth lady.
In the recent Wigan Town Centre 5K, Andy Norris notched up an excellent time of 19 minutes 56 seconds.
He was followed home by William Unsworth and Tom Hilton.
Chorley Harriers would also like to congratulate their local 'rivals' Chorley A.C. for winning the third division Northern Men's track league thereby gaining promotion. Well done to Chorley A.C.
