LORD Kirkham came to Bolton...and left with a specially baked initialled pastie.
The chairman of DFS Furniture plc visited local structural engineers Harry Peers Steelwork Ltd.
The 70-year-old Mill Hill company has supplied, delivered and erected steelwork for the DFS furniture stores in Bristol and Birmingham and is currently building another in Swansea. Lord Kirkham came to Bolton to see first hand how the structures are produced on CAD systems and then directly downloaded to the manufacturing equipment in Peers' modernised engineering facility.
He also opened a new office extension and unveiled a plaque commemorating his visit.
Lunch included pasties from the famous Ye Olde Pastie Shoppe in Churchgate. And Lord Kirkham was given one to take away which bore his initials -- GK.
