BOLTON'S Young Enterprise Scheme is seeking volunteer business advisers to help young entrepreneurs from local schools run their own companies.
The Scheme, a national educational charity established in 1963, aims to help young people learn vital business skills needed by today's employers -- team work, decision-making and others.
Motivated young people meet after school or college and make key business decisions on matters such as what to make and sell, marketing and advertising campaigns, selling shares and running bank accounts.
Young entrepreneurs gain an NVQ level two qualification.
The local Scheme is sponsored by Bolton and Bury Chamber, Matra BAe, Harrison Lubrication Engineering Ltd and other local firms. Organisers want to hear from new volunteers willing to pass on their skills, expertise and enthusiasm.
Development Manager Charlotte Chadwick said: "Volunteer advisers gain a tremendous amount from investing just an hour and a half each week from September to March.
"Working as an adviser provides a unique and challenging career development opportunity, the chance to work with young people who are buzzing with ideas, the chance to meet other advisers from local companies, make new contacts and, of course, all advisers gain a certificate to recognise their involvement." She added: "We are seeking volunteers from all walks of life and business and social backgrounds, from clerical staff to senior managers.
"All have something worthwhile to offer in terms of advice."
Advisers will be given full training at an evening event on September 12.
