A TASTE of the continent is finally is set to come to Bolton.
The BEN revealed last year that there were plans for Bolton folk to be sipping cappuccino in street cafes.
Council chiefs have noticed the way street cafs have helped local economies in other towns and cities.
And now anybody wanting to set one up will now be able to apply to the council for permission.
The authority will have make sure that they don't affect the safety of pedestrians, that food hygeine is maintained and that they use quality furniture.
A guidance note has been prepared to help applicants.
Cllr Guy Harkin, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: "We've seen how successful street cafs have been in places like Manchester.
"They have brought new life to town centres and improved their range of facilities.
Anybody who has travelled abroad wil know what a wonderful atmosphere they provide."
He added that the Council will monitor any new street cafs that are set up to see if the Council's guidelines need revising.
