I'm Gill, Nick Bold's hippy chick as was, sister. Just read your review of Mayall's 'Laurel Canyon'
and it really brought back memories. I bought the album in 1971 when I was a student at
Leeds Uni, along with 'Turning Point' which I treasure, and which I personally think was more innovative and exciting. 'California' is art. I even got to see
Mayall live at Leeds Town Hall(!!!) promoting the latter, which lives on in my memory as one of the best gigs I ever went to, including The Who Live at Leeds - yes I am in the audience.
This was in the days when I could, and did, see Pink Floyd for 7s 6d, and the Stones for 15 bob!
But then they also had free education, open minds and good beer. Happy days.
Thanks for your support for little bro'.
cheers
Gill
