THERE are many worthy causes which require recognition and publicity and one of these is Derian House Children's Hospice.
I attended their open weekend recently, which was very well supported, even though the weather was not very good.
Many people had given up their time to run stalls and various displays were given during each day which were very enjoyable. We later went on a guided tour of the Derian House hospice, which was delightful, yet very emotional.
Our guide informed us that twice the Hospice had requested a lottery grant, yet twice had been turned down. This seems very unfair considering the Millennium Dome has received so much. More should be done with funding to help the wellbeing of mankind rather than funding material things which, on many occasions, make so called 'fat cats' fatter.
