"BIG Sam" and Lofty lent their support to ChildLine -- and publicised a special inter-town event at the Reebok, too!
But the "match" they were helping to promote, along with ChildLine's Gaynor Lawton here, won't involve any on-field play .... just plenty of sedentary fun!
As part of the children's 'phone helpline's local appeal, a Bolton v Bury sportsman's dinner is being held at the Reebok Statium on Thursday, September 14.
Joining Sam at the Bolton end of the table will be the Lion of Vienna himself, Nat Lofthouse, while ex-coach Wilf McGuinness and Neville Neville make up the Bury "squad."
The evening will include a four-course meal, the football pundits' view on the game, the chance to put your questons to the "team", plus comic entertainment.
Proceeds from the event will help ChildLine North West answer more calls from lonely and often desperate children and is one of several initiatives being held in Bolton and Bury.
Anyone who would like to attend this entertaining dinner, or find out more about how to help ChildLine locally, should ring Gaynor on 0161-834-9945.
