THE Redmayne Bentley Bolton Association Under 15 team clinched a place in the semi-final of the North-West Interleague Competition with a 24-run win over the Saddleworth League. The Association were inserted on a damp wicket and collapsed to 48 for 6. A very solid innings of 50 not out from Daisy Hill's David Gleave then ensured a respectable total of 134 for 8 off 40 overs. Tight opening bowling by Peter Lomax (Elton) with 1 for 18 and Man of the Match Gleave (3 for 17) put Saddleworth behind the clock and were dismissed for 110 in the penultimate over. Other successful bowlers were Adam Irish (Daisy Hill) 3 for 22; Captain Max Baimak (Darcy Lever) 2 for 17 and Jack Southworth (Blackrod) 1 for 12.
The previous game in the competition against Central Lancs was abandoned due to rain after the Association made 168 all out on another wet wicket thanks largely to Andrew Griffiths (Clifton) who made 73 and Ashley Perry (Little Hulton) with 24.
