THE smell of any animal which is gutted after slaughter is unpleasant due to stomach content, but this is reality.

One which many people can appreciate, maybe even Mr Lang and Mr Fox.

The BEN seems to have omitted a few facts in its report (August 10).

It does not mention at all the fact that there is a resident health inspector on site at all times during slaughter.

Or the fact that slaughter cannot take place in his absence.

He is of course employed by Bolton Environmental Health Department to do this job.

So, quite obviously, if their was the 'stench of rotting chicken' the health inspector would immediately point this out.

But since the chicken is 'live' on arrival, and then refrigerated after slaughter, it does not occur.

As for waste products, these are collected on a daily basis by a specialist waste company who dispose of it as required by the Health Authorities.

As for the vehicles and site being cleaned daily, (again as required by the health authorities) what would anyone suggest they do? Not clean up?

As for receiving no comment from the company, might this have something to do with the fact the owner had a serious accident and is in hospital, so was unable to comment.

But, of course you already knew that when you chose to attack the company's reputation, as you yourselves reported the accident (BEN August 10).

Shame on you, attacking a man when he's down. And on you Mr Lang, since the same company changed it's working hours from days to permanent nights out of consideration for you and your fellow complainers.

The stench is emanating from elsewhere!
