CLIFTON took the Walshaw Cup for the second successive year after beating Blackrod in the final.
Blackrod did well on getting the game on after the overnight rain and their batsmen started brightly after being put in by Cl;ifton.
Settle and Selva, however, fell in a couple of balls to Greg Jennings then another Lancashire Under 13s David Garner took the crucial wickets of Worsley and Southworth the latter top scoring on 25.
At this stage Blackrod appeared in danger of being bowled out very cheaply but a late rally from Noel Clarkson (22 not out) supported by Ritchie and Barker took the home side to 83 for 6 off 20 overs.
Clifton opened with Griffiths and Garner and were soon ahead of the rate but then Garner fell to Selva and number three Walsh fell to a good catch from Barker off Settle.
Andrew Griffiths continued steadily until he chased a wide ball off Matthew Barker to be caught by Jack Southworth. This wicket perhaps came to late and Jennings and Dorsey took Clifton to within a couple of runs of the target when Jennings fell to Ritchie.
Neil Williams and Liam Dorsey saw Clifton home with a couple of overs to spare. This completed the double for Clifton U15 for the second consecutive year which has never been achieved before at this age-group.
In the league Clifton had a 91 run victory over Bolton Indians with Anthony Walsh retired on 51 and Man of the Match Andrew Griffiths 53 not out and 4 for 3. Blackrod beat Adlington by 81 runs thanks largely to Settle who made 49 not out.
The match between Little Hulton and Daisy Hill went to the last over with David Gleave 22 not out and Danny Griffiths a very aggressive 24 not out seeing the away team to victory.
