ONCE more, I see a picture of the Millennium Dome in the Media (August 12), condemned by someone who has probably never visited the place.

I am really tired of politicians, the media and people who should know better, taking every opportunity to knock something that should be celebrated and promoted.

Yes, it cost an obscene amount of money that could have been spent on many other deserving causes, it is in the wrong part of the country but the simple reality is that the money has been spent and it is where it is.

Lessons should be learnt about future projects but now stop being so stubborn and give it a chance.

I have just returned from a visit to the Dome with my daughter, ignoring the taunts of friends who "wouldn't go on principle to such a waste of money".

Well, surprise, surprise -- it was a fantastic experience and I was surrounded by people who openly agreed that it was worth going just to see the spectacular Millennium Show.

The one hyped and much publicised feature, the Body Zone, was disappointing but the rest was superb and something to be proud of.

I cannot help but feel that the Dome's Marketing Department needs a severe shake up.

It could easily have fought the bad publicity by better promotion of the Dome's attractions since much of it was a complete and delightful surprise to me. Now, the rest of you, yes, it is not the cheapest of day outings, but also not the most expensive.

But if you can afford it, don't listen to the stupid statements from those you haven't even been there, take a visit and make your own mind up and you may even end up with a day to remember for all the right reasons.
