BOLTON College training Unit is helping Salford-based motorgroup RRG with its training scheme for modern apprenticeship students.

The new alliance will see the unit offer funded training placements to 11 of the RRG group's apprentices each year.

It will provide both practical and theoretical support needed for Foundation and Advanced Level Modern NVQs.

The RRG Group, which was founded by Bolton businessman Michael Smyth, has six Toyota garages and four Peugeot garages under the Elton brand name.

RRG is Europe's largest Toyota and Lexus dealership, selling more than 4,000 cars per year.

Sarah Marshall, Personnel Officer for the RRG Group, said: "Apprenticeships are a well-established and successful way for youngsters to get started in the motor trade.

"It is an invaluable way to develop their skills both in terms of their personal development and within the RRG team and we look forward to a successful partnership with the college."

Mr Carl Messenger, Training Contracts manager for Bolton College Training Unit, said: "We spend considerable time and effort on each apprentice to ensure that their training needs are met and they are receiving the level of support they need to be successful in the workplace."
