GETTING to and from Sharples County Primary School on Hugh Lupos Street is a 'journey of death'.

The trouble is inconsiderate drivers.

I have a five-year-old and a baby in a pram.

As the only access into the school with a pram is through the car park, you have to have eyes in the back of your head.

We are in constant battle with drivers as they come tearing up the street without a care in the world that a child could run out of school at any moment.

They park on the pavement, open doors onto you and, if that isn't annoying enough, you have to dodge the dog dirt.

I find that I have to leave my house 15 minutes earlier than usual just so I know I can get up the street in one piece.

We have spoken to the headmistress but she can't do anything but stop them parking in the school grounds.

These people in the cars are parents bringing their children to school, so you'd have thought they would know better.

What would they do if, one day, it was their child who was knocked down.

Or even killed?

We need something doing about this before a child is killed.
