THE Environment Agency is spending £5,000 to upgrade a flood warning system for Bradshaw.
Engineers hope to install the new hi-tech system at Ryding Gate Brook next to Bradshaw Conservative Club.
It will send information to computers at the Environment Agency headquarters in Warrington.
The system detects flood waters rising as a result of blockages in the stream caused when grills in the stream are too full of floating debris.
Emergency engineers can be sent out as soon as problems arise.
A new cabin will be built to house equipment which requires planning permission from Bolton councillors.
