AN OBSERVANT bus passenger thought his eyes were deceiving him when he spotted some rather unusual spellings of Bolton street names.
The eagle-eyed BEN reader put his brand new digital camera to use and captured photographic evidence of the mis-spelt bus stop names along St Helens Road.
Gaffes on the same stretch of road, include "Dean Chuch Lane", "Methodist Chuch" and "Croton Street" which should read "Croston Street".
The bus stops have only appeared during the past week and all the spelling mistakes are confined to the left side of the road coming out of Bolton town centre.
The regular bus user said: "I just think it's very silly to have made so many mistakes when the bus stops are brand new and a lot of money has obviously been spent on them.
"It's even funnier that the mistakes are just on one side of the road. I can understand someone who isn't from the area spelling 'Deane' without an 'e' on the end, but surely they would know 'church' is not spelt 'chuch'!"
A spokesman from the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive said: "GMPTE would like to apologise for any mistakes to bus stop signage and thank the Bolton Evening News and its readers for bringing this matter to our attention.
"The mistakes will be investigated and rectified in the coming few days."
