CHORLEY secured their first Mid Week League championship in recent years with a win over third placed Asiatic's.

The match was played in between showers and would not normally have taken place, but with rivals Leyland poised to take advantage of any slip up, nerves were on edge at Windsor Park.

Asiatic's scored 67 for three in a match reduced to nine overs per side. In reply the Chorley openers McGarrell and O'Rourke took the total to 60 for the first wicket and Chorley eventually won with eight balls to spare.

This weeks fixtures are the semi-finals of the Cyril Nightingale Trophy between Asiatic's and Millennium at Limbrick, whilst Leyland will be out to reverse this seasons league results, with a win over Chorley at Fox Lane.

The final will take place at Windsor Park on Sunday, September 10th. Admission is free and all are welcome.
