BLACKPOOL was the venue of the fifth Mid-Lancs track and field league meeting, and athletes from Chorley Athletic Club competed at the Stanley Park Stadium.
The female section were represented by ever-improving senior lady Ruth Scholes, who for the third time this year ran a personal best in the 100 metres.
She won the event in 13.4 and almost made it a double victory when she also finished 2nd in the long jump.
Under 17 Eloise Manager, back from a three-week break in Kenya, won the javelin and was 2nd in the discus.
Newcomer U15 Laura Livesey paced herself extremely well in the 1500m to come home in second place, a name for the future.
The male selection saw U15 Lee Pursglove achieve a personal best in the discus to win the event with a throw of 30.98 after which he went on to win the high jump and came 3rd in his heat of 100m.
Three senior men found themselves in good company, as Andrew Moir in the one-lap event was placed 5th but pleased with his time of 55.7.
Carl Holding, in a large field of 1500m runners, finished 8th and man of many talents, James Roden, strayed from his usual events to come 3rd in the long jump, 4th in the discus and 5th in the shot.
