BOLTON Wanderers went East yesterday when they joined in the fun to herald the opening of a new Hindu arts and culture centre.

Manager Sam Allardyce and assistant Phil Brown were the latest in a line of high-profile visitors to the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir centre, Deane Road, Bolton.

Celebrations for the opening of the centre started on Wednesday and will culminate in a grand procession through the town centre today -- led by a giant swan chariot.

Football aces Sam and Phil were given the chance to marvel at some of the artwork which adorns the ceiling of the new centre which has been created by a team of artists flown in from India.

The duo were also given the opportunity to meet spiritual leader His Divine Holiness Acharaya Shree Purshottampriyadasji who has also journeyed from India and will officially open and bless the new centre.

Today's procession, which also features a Scottish/Asian pipe band, started at 2.30pm on Morris Green Lane. It then went along Derby Street and College Way to the Deane Road centre.
