A CYCLIST was critically ill in hospital today after falling under a bin waggon.
Mariuscz Mazurek, aged 16, suffered serious head and leg injuries in the accident yesterday.
Police closed the top of Longsight Road, Holcombe Brook, for more than three hours.
The injured cyclist, of Dean Avenue, Prestwich, was given first aid treatment by witnesses before the arrival of paramedics.
The ambulance was given a high speed police escort to Bury General Hospital.
A second lorry driver, who witnessed the horrific collision, was treated at the scene for shock.
Sgt Pam Hadfield of the Bury Traffic Unit said: "The cyclist was conscious after the accident but was in a poorly condition."
