BOLTON schoolgirl Amy Hunt has retained her Rav 4 Series National Juvenile Mountain Bike Championships for the second time.
The talented cyclist, a pupil at Rivington and Blackrod High, won her final race in Wrexham to clinch national glory for the second successive year, but much of the credit has to lie at the feet of her father, Roy.
He trains Amy and came third in the veteran category of the RAV 4 Series this year, together with winning a 24 hour endurance individual Mountain Bike Ride, sponsored by Red Bull, earning himself over £1000 worth of prizes for his efforts.
Amy won the Rav 4 series last year in the final race of the gruelling event, which sees competitors race all over the country for six months. The winner is the best rider over that perios and Amy brought more silverware into the Hunt household when she won again.
"I was in the lead by about 20 seconds when my main rival had a puncture," she said.
Amy looks to have a bright future in the competitive world of cycling and next year will step up to the Youth level where she is already more than holding her own. Bolton has got a genuine sporting star on it's hands...
