THE WORTHINGTON'S Tuesday Sixth Division is proving to be a real contest, with every team in the division losing at least one game in their first three.

The most surprising result of all came when Billy's Boots turned in a stunning performance, beating the previously unbeaten Fat Boy Slims in a spectacular game, 10-9.

This must have come as a shock to team manager John Court as his team had won their first two games in some style.

Next week The Fat Boys take on Sportlife Bolton who recorded an impressive 16-4 victory over the ever improving Mark and The Mechanics. Someone has to give, as there are five teams all level on six points from a possible nine. Fat Boy Slims lead the division, but only on goal difference, which, over the past few seasons, has often won and lost titles.

Another team who have improved are Tyne's Bank. After struggling last season, a few new signings have seen them storm to the top of the Monday First Division, beating Lamb Mar Wdrs, Charisma and, most recently, Leach Briely, on their way. Leach gave them their toughest game so far when they were defeated narrowly by two goals, 9-7. If this form continues, who would bet against them winning the title.

Smiling Assassins are just three points off winning a third consecutive title. The Sunday Evening Premier outfit have had another outstanding season and have slipped up just once, but got revenge second time around against Manilla Stars. The only team that are challenging them at present are The Dogs. They mathematically can win the division but would need Assassins to slip up twice and score 41 goals.

So, should all go well at the weekend, the title celebrations could begin one week early.

Our Kids Coaching program, which runs on a Wednesday evening, is still running and will continue to do so after the summer months. Six-to-eight year olds run from 4.30-5.30, and 9-11 year olds from 5.30-6.30.

Premier Fives provides bibs, balls etc and an experienced FA qualified coach. Once the class is over, orange squash is served in the players' lounge for the children. The course costs just £2.50 per session unless you are a junior member and the discounted price of £2.25 is on offer. Any youngsters wishing to sign on the program should ring Premier Fives and ask for Dave, Neil or Andy.
