BOLTON District Ladies, who have been in runners up spot for most of the season, lost 117-101 to in-form Farnworth District Vets who have won three of their last four games.

Bolton District batted first and were dismissed for 36 runs with eight bad balls being the top score. The Vets then similarly struggled and could only score 47 runs with 12 bad balls, again top scoring.

Bolton District batted better in the second innings, and reached a total of 65 runs, with Kerry Atherton scoring 23 runs and Jane Platt 15 runs.

Farnworth Vets then batted, requiring 55 runs for victory, and thanks to Justine Robinson 14 runs, and Karen Fairhurst 11 runs .

The previous night JP Ladies beat Westside XI 167-125 to share runners up spot with Bolton District Ladies.

The final game of the season is JP Ladies and Bolton District, providing the game does not end in a draw this result will decide second place.

Egerton Pipe Tube Group A have just one victory to their name this season, when they met second placed Imago at Egerton CC. Egerton batted first and were dismissed for 31 runs. Imago found runs difficult, and were soon dismissed for 42 runs. This was a splendid fielding performance by both teams with only four bad balls having been bowled.

Egerton's second innings followed a similar pattern, and were dismissed for 28 runs. Imago batted better in the second innings, and after them scoring a further 87 runs the innings was declared.

Heaton Ladies continue their good run when they beat Eagley CC A 148-106. Eagley CC A led at half time 91-73, and while Heaton scored 75 in their second innings, disaster struck for Eagley when they were dismissed for 15 runs.

Redgate Ladies have lost just one game in their last seven matches, when they beat Knights XI 148(D)-138. This result leaves Redgate Ladies requiring just one more point for the runners up spot.

Church Inn (I) had a convincing win over VBQ when they won by an innings 97-94. VBQ are still in runners up spot, but Royal Hotel are still in contention with Church Inn, waiting for both teams to slip up in their remaining games.

Hatfield B (L) beat top of the table Smithills Coaching House A 135-124.

Central Garage Doors now trail by two points, but with a game in hand over the Smithills team.

Since this is the last week of the season for league matches, the Results Secretary would appreciate a telephone call with the result of any team possibly involved in play-off matches for first or second place in their section, in addition to a match card.

All play-offs will be played on Tuesday, August 29 commencing at 6.30pm.
