Paul Swift still had time to reduce Rec lead with a well taken goal. Peter Consterdine levelled the scores midway through the second half. SUNDAY SUMMER PREMIER
Monteraze Sealed the championship with an emphatic 8-0 win over JC Engineering. Goal machine Jason Smiley went nap and leads the chase for the Golden Boot Award with 22 goals, 12 more than his nearest rival. John Whittam 2 and James Greaves the other scorers.
Second placed Barnstoneworth United lapse of form continued against Readey's, the later registering a very hard fought for victory that secures their place in the Premier for next season, Paul Rockcliffe the scorer of that vital goal. Not for the first time Readey's owe the form of their keeper Frank Kearney, who broke the hearts of the United lads with some fantastic saves.
Church Hotel went into their game against York full of confidence after their great win over Barnstoneworth last week. But soon fell behind with York striker Peter Cooper taking full advantage of a defensive error, Peter scored a second to wrap things up. Philip Turner netting a late goal for Church. Church need a point from their last fixture against Able Auto, who need a win to avoid the drop into the First Division. They looked set for a good result against Alliance Windows, leading 2-1 with a brace of goals from Mark Craig but Alliance fought back to notch a good 3-2 win, with goals from Steve Riley 2 and Darren Firth. Should Barnstoneworth's lapse of form continue into their final fixture against York, Alliance still have a chance to take the runners up spot.
SUNDAY SUMMER FIRST
With just one fixture to play to complete the Sunday First Division Programme, it's perm any two teams from six for promotion to the Premier Division. Pickerings Lifts and FC Elite are favourites, both with 21 points. Pickerings, on paper at least, having the easier came against bottom placed All Nations, while Elite have a tough game against Bolton Recreation, who with the right results could finish up champions. But then again X Records and BOCA Seniors on 20 and 19 points play each other, and either of them could end up champs, even sixth placed The Farmers have a chance on stealing runners up spot. Only the two bottom teams, Montserrat and All Nations are out of the equation, and they could have a big say in where the title ends up, so we are in for a very exciting day, with the final results still in abeyance until the final whistle. AUGUST 13
FC Elite 2 1 BOCA Seniors 1 -- a very important game for both teams. BOCA Seniors started well when Dave Coleman took advantage of a fortunate deflection to put his side in front in the second minute from the restart. He nearly doubled the score when he saw a good effort rebound of the post. Elite having wasted two earlier goal chances, equalised in the fifth minute through Salman Gangat. Fayaz Musa put Elite in front with a well taken goal after 11 minutes. this proved to be the winning goal.
Bolton Rec 3 Montserrat 3 -- a six goal thriller. Montserrat took the lead through Damien Cusik. A brace from Noel Clarkson put the Rec ahead, Mont's James Hall levelled the scores, and a second from Cusik regained the lead, but a late coal from Mark Worthington earned his side a well deserved point.
All Nations 1 X Records 1-- a shock looked on the cards with All Nations leading via a great goal from Carl Calo, with little time left All Nations were reduced to six, when player manager James Mitcham took a nasty fall. The Records took full advantage of this and equalised through Dave Lewtas.
Pickerings Lifts 0 The Farmers 0 -- although goalless, a good game, and considering the importance a very clean game, goal chances were few and far between, what shots found their way through were dealt with ease by both keepers. SUNDAY PREMIER DIVISION
