I MUST reply to 'name and address supplied', who wrote about orange badge drivers.
Yes, I agree that there are selfish, inconsiderate people, disabled or otherwise, who abuse the system.
For example, able-bodied supermarket shoppers who use disabled spaces because they're nearer the entrances.
I trust the writer is fit and well?
If he wasn't, he wouldn't begrudge orange badge holders the use of the few parking spaces outside the Bolton Evening News offices.
Obviously he doesn't suffer from angina, or hasn't had minor strokes, unlike my husband who also needs a stick to walk.
Incidentally, he only applied for his sticker last year, even though he has been eligible for a number of years.
Before that, he struggled up the bill from Lower Churchgate when we went shopping if there were no closer vacancies.
So please don't begrudge the disabled the use of the few spaces outside the Bolton Evening News office.
I also get the impression the writer objects to having to pay for parking.
What price can you put on your health? Who wouldn't pay willingly to be well again?
I know what my husband would choose -- so take care.
