3-5-2 STEVE BANKS: 7 Tested towards the end, denying Durkan (twice) and Abbey - all at long range.
MARK FISH: 6 Lackadaisical at times, which gave Macc's marauding lone striker, Barker, a glimmer of hope.
ANTHONY BARNESS: 7 Another solid performance from the summer signing, who led the team out in Bergsson's absence.
PAUL WARHURST: 5 More bad luck for the multi-talented but injury-prone utility man, who failed to appear for the second half.
LEAM RICHARDSON: 5 Struggled to make an impact, like everyone else in the first half, but gained valuable experience.
DAVID NORRIS: 6 The little livewire was lost in a crowded midfield until the second half when things opened up.
FRANCK PASSI: 6 The Frenchman worked hard, as usual, to get things going in midfield but to no avail.
GARETH FARRELLY: 8 Involved in just about everything Wanderers had to offer, most notably the goal.
JOHN O'KANE: 6 Found it as difficult as anyone to get into his stride.
DEAN HOLDSWORTH: 7 If anyone was going to break the stalemate it was Deano, and he did it in the most impressive fashion.
ISAIAH RANKIN: 6 Busy and bustling but, typical of the team's all-round display, he found the going tough.

Bookings: Wanderers - O'Kane 36 mins (dissent); Macclesfield - Sedgemore 53 mins (foul on Passi), Collins 68 mins (foul on Rankin) Man of the Match GARETH FARRELLY MAINTAINED his impressive start to the season with another influential performance; close to scoring on a couple of occasions himself but made his best contribution as the provider in chief - his pinpoint cross set up the goal. Magic Moment THANK goodness Farrelly and Holdsworth were able to conjure up something special to break the deadlock and save Wanderers' blushes five minutes from the end of a game that was going nowhere. Moan of the Match WANDERERS' failure to get any rhythm going, allied to Macc's determination not to get over-run made the first half as turgid as they come. Not the best advert for a competition that loses more appeal with every season. The good ...and the bad ACTION SHOTS 27 mins: O'Kane crosses and Holdsworth's header looks useful until it cannons off Ingram to safety.
30 mins: Passi's pull-back creates the space for a Farrelly 25-yarder that flashes narrowly wide.
45 mins: Holdsworth finds space in the box but his snapshot is well saved by Bullock.
Half-time: 0-0.
58 mins: Bergsson launches the most purposeful attack yet but Farrelly's shot doesn't match the build-up.
69 mins: Holdsworth again with a header that flies just too high.
71 mins: Banks is stretched for the first time, parrying Durkan's long range shot then having to be quick and brave to prevent Munroe knocking in the rebound.
80 mins: It all looks spectacular as Banks dives to turn Abbey's 35-yarder round the post; the keeper had to make sure but the shot looked to be drifting wide.
GOAL!
85 mins: Worth the wait - Farrelly's cross being met with an equally impressive Holdsworth header.
Full-time: 1-0
